Game on!

Over the past few months many people have emailed me only to receive an
email back with a hidden message to "SEEK THE DIALS". There have been
several theories about the meaning of this cryptic message. Today the
answer will be revealed.

The Da Vinci Code Quest on Google has launched. A quest that according
to the site "requires skill, intellect, and perseverance. Over a span of
24 days ending May 11th, you will encounter unique challenges. These
daily puzzles will pull you deeper into the world of The Da Vinci Code.
Answer all 24 puzzles correctly for a chance to win untold riches."

Sounds pretty intriguing to me. The first 10,000 people to finish this
24 day quest will receive a replica cryptex inspired from the film and
an opportunity to participate in the final challenge...
So - go forth and SEEK THE DIALS www.google.com/davincicode
Continue to keep up with my blog

At this point, perhaps I should read the book. :)

Welcome DaVinci dreamer...

Well, the The DaVinci Code trailer is out. Undoubtedly you know this already as you have found your way here. And these screen shots are probably why:

The sneaky viewer will notice the highlighted letters: T- H - S - E - C - D - E - O. Incidentally, I noticed a similar trick on the Waiting... DVD, where they spell out less flattering words in neon in the menu system. I thought these highlights were suspicious, but "THE CODES" didn't mean much so I watched it again and saw the "SEEK" flash in the previous frames.

"SEEK THE CODES"

10-4. I can do that. And so we are officially handed our internet viral marketing walking papers. First stop? Why www.seekthecodes.com of course. A harmless 'symbology enthusiast' blog with some serious flair and style, as well as a ton of highly focused Da Vinci code material...sort of a guide to the official site (so far). So where does our slightly obsessive yet surprisingly savvy LisaS get her scoops? My guess would be SONY PICTURES, since they registered the website according to WHOIS. They even host the site.

In the long run, not a problem, but it would have been cooler to see a little effort to disguise it all. Or maybe I'm underestimating them by a lightyear or two. Either way, I bet the flick does better than Basic Instinct 2.

Ahh, but what about this site, you ask? Is this part of it all, with its low production quality and official sounding name..or is this just some guy who hasn't even read the book and just noticed the name was available? Only Dan Brown knows for sure...

...and me. I know, of course. Me and Dan Brown. And SONY. That's it. And Dan Brown probably doesn't know.
